Baseball5 schedule unveiled for Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026
The schedule for the Baseball5 tournament at Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 has been confirmed, with four days of competition set to run from 29 July to 1 August.
Eight teams will compete in the event, bringing together some of the Mediterranean region’s leading Baseball5 teams. Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Syria, Tunisia and Türkiye will battle for the medals in the discipline’s debut appearance at the Mediterranean Games.
The teams are divided into two groups based on the WBSC World Rankings and competitive balance considerations. Spain, Italy, Kosovo and Tunisia will compete in Group A, while France, Greece, Syria and Türkiye make up Group B.
Türkiye and Greece will meet in the opening game of the tournament at 09:30 on 29 July. Spain will then face Tunisia before France take on Syria and Italy meet Kosovo to complete the first day of action.
Pool play continues on 30 July with another full schedule of matches before the competition moves into the knockout stage on 31 July. The second-placed and third-placed teams from each group will cross over in the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semifinals alongside the two group winners.
The tournament concludes on 1 August with the placement and medal games. The bronze medal game is scheduled for 18:00 before the gold medal game closes the competition at 20:00.
France enter the tournament as the highest-ranked team in the field at World No. 4, while World No. 6 Tunisia also arrives among the favourites. Türkiye (No. 9) and Spain (No. 12) add further international experience to a strong field expected to deliver an exciting first Baseball5 competition at the Mediterranean Games.
Italy (No. 14), Greece (No. 49), Syria (No. 62) and Kosovo compete the list of participants.
The inclusion of Baseball5 at Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 marks another important milestone for the fast-growing urban discipline, which continues to expand through continental championships, youth competitions and multi-sport events around the world.
