Wesseling Vermins win German Softball Championship 2024
The Wesseling Vermins won the German Softball Championship 2024, their 11th title in the German Softball-Bundesliga, putting them in second place on the all-time list tied with the Bielefeld Peanuts and one championship behind record title holder Mannheim Tornados.
Wesseling, who also claimed the championship in 2023, beat the Bonn Capitals 2-0 in the best-of-three final series.
The Vermins reached the final by defeating the Mannheim Tornados in the quarterfinals and the Freising Grizzlies in the semifinals.
Bonn had downed the Guggenberger Legionaere and Neunkirchen Nightmares on their way to the finals. It was the fifth straight season where Bonn and Wesseling had met in the final.
The Capitals then went on to win the Deutschlandcup Softball 2024. At the League Cup Final Four event in Neunkirchen, Bonn beat the Stuttgart Reds 9-2 in the final. The Freising Grizzlies and the Guggenberger Legionaere finished in third and fourth place.
