5 Days to Go: Mexico City ready to host Baseball Champions League Americas

The Baseball Champions League (BCL) Americas returns to Mexico after a successful first edition in late September 2023 in Merida, Yucatan. The Mexican Baseball League (LMB) will host the event at the Harp Helù Stadium in Mexico City from April 8 to 13.

The six participating teams are the champions of the Mexican Baseball League, the Nicaragua Pomares Championship, the Puerto Rico Double-A League, the American Association, Cuba's Serie Nacional and the Curaçao Double-A League.

The tournament will open on Tuesday, April 8, when the Kane County Cougars take on the Santa Maria Pirates at 14:00 (local time). The hosts Diablos Rojos will face the Florida Titanes at 19:30 (local time).

The Opening Round will go through Thursday, April 11. The first place finisher will advance directly to Saturday's semifinals. The second and third-place teams will face each other on Friday, April 11 for the other two spots in the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will compete for the title on Sunday, April 13, at 14:00 (local time).

The Diablos Rojos will compete in Group A and look like the favourites. The BCL will represent the highlight of their preparation for the 2025 LMB season, which opens on April 18.

The Chinandenga Tigres lead the Pomares standings tied with Dantos at 17-3. The XXVIII edition of the Pomares Championship opened on February 28.

The Florida Titanes lead the North Division of the Puerto Rico Superior Double-A League with a 6-2 record.

Las Tunas are the favourites in Group B. The Serie Nacional champions are leading in the six-team Elite League, which features the top six finishers of the 2024 Serie Nacional.

The 12-team American Association won the 2023 edition with the Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks. The league will open the 2025 season on May 11. The Kane County Cougars will compete in the East Division.

The Santa Maria Pirates are one of the historic teams of the Curaçao AA Championship.
