South Africa start favourite as WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Africa Qualifier begins in Kenya

South Africa introduced the team in two ceremonies in Johannesburg (pictured above) and Cape Town. South Sudan will participate in an international tournament for the first time. The other contenders are Uganda and Kenya. Kenya will host the event at the Nairobi Field of Dreams at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi.

World No. 63 Kenya is hosting the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026 Africa Qualifier at the Nairobi Baseball Field of Dreams from December 5 to 7.

No. 23 South Africa start as favourites to win the four-team tournament and claim the one Africa ticket to the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026, with No. 55 Uganda and South Sudan, which is competing at the international level for the first time, also participating.

The Nairobi Field of Dreams is a baseball and softball complex located at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). It is the first of its kind in Kenya, a community-built project of the If We Build It Organisation, and serves as a hub for both local leagues and international competitions. The facility is expanding to include multiple fields to host more games simultaneously.

The WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026

Eight teams have already qualified for the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026:

WBSC Americas will announce two more teams, and a wild card will complete the field of 12 teams for the VII WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.
