Road to Brisbane begins: Groups set for WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026/2027

The XVIII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup will be played under the two-stage format, with the Group Stage taking place in Czechia, Peru, and the USA in 2026 and the Finals in Australia in 2027.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today announced the groups for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026/2027, which will begin next year with the Group Stage in Czechia, Peru, and the USA. The Finals will be held in Redcliffe, Australia - just outside Brisbane - in April, 2027.

The groups are as follows:

Group A (Prague, Czechia): No. 4 Canada; No. 6 Chinese Taipei; No. 9 Italy; No. 10 Australia; No. 11 Czechia; No. 13 Cuba.
Group B (Lima, Peru): No. 1 Japan; No. 3 Puerto Rico; No. 12 Great Britain; No. 15 Venezuela; No. 18 Peru; and Uganda.
Group C (Oklahoma City, USA): No. 2 USA; No. 5 Netherlands; No. 7 China; No. 8 Mexico; No. 26 New Zealand; and No. 37 South Africa.

WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage 2026

The XVIII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup will be played under the two-stage format, with the Group Stage taking place in 2026 and the Finals in 2027.

Group A will open the tournament in Prague, Czechia, from 16 to 20 June 2026. The Czech capital, home to 1.3 million people, returns to the international softball spotlight seven years after co-hosting the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2019 with Havlíčkův Brod.

Group B will be played at the Villa María del Triunfo Softball Stadium in Lima, Peru, from 14 to 18 July 2026, marking nearly two years before the first pitch of the LA28 Olympic softball tournament on 23 July 2028. Lima previously hosted the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup in 2021 and the Pan American Games in 2019. The Peruvian capital is also set to host the Pan Am Games again in 2027.

The Group Stage will conclude in Oklahoma City, USA, where Group C will be played from 12 to 16 September 2026 at OKC Softball Park (Devon Park), the venue of the LA28 Olympic softball competition. Oklahoma City will host the final 19 games of the Group Stage.

The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals will be held at Talobilla Park in Redcliffe, 45 minutes from Brisbane, from 5 to 11 April 2027. The top two teams from each group, plus two wild cards, will compete for the biggest prize in the softball world.

Olympic champions Japan are the current title holders, having beaten USA in the final in 2024.
