Canada announce 20-player roster for Women's Baseball World Cup Qualifying Series against Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico will host the qualifier at the Roberto Clemente Walker Stadium in Carolina. The winner of the best-of-five series will advance to the Rockford (Illinois, USA) Group. The Women's Baseball World Cup is a two-stage event. Rockford will host the Finals in July 2027.

World No. 3 Canada announced a 20-player roster for the best-of-five series against No. 9 Puerto Rico, which will send the winner to the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Rockford 2026.

The roster features 16 veterans and four players making their international debut.

Two members of the roster, Mia Valcke and Claire Eccles, were part of Canada’s silver medal performance at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2016. Eccles has competed in three World Cups and one Pan American Games for the National Team.

Five roster members, Claire Eccles, Liz Gilder, Alli Schroder, Mia Valcke, and Madison Willan, helped Canada earn bronze at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018.

Fourteen players on the roster also competed and helped the national team earn bronze at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup Finals 2024: Lucie Anctil, Emily Baxter, Sena Catterall, Ela Day-Bédard, Alizée Gélinas, Liz Gilder, Andréanne Leblanc, Cassie Matlock, Alli Schroder, Mia Valcke, Madison Willan, Raine Padgham, Michelle Roche, and Jaida Lee. 

Newcomers looking to make their international debuts for the National Team include outfielder Ariane Domingue, right-handed pitcher and infielder Frédérique Noël, catcher Julianna Scott, and 16-year-old right-handed pitcher and infielder Mikael Fields.

The Women's Baseball World Cup Group Stage 2026

Puerto Rico will host the best-of-five series against Canada from April 29 to May 3 at the Roberto Clement Walker Stadium in Carolina.

The winner will join No. 2 USA, No. 6 Mexico, No. 8 Hong Kong-China, No. 10 Australia and No. 12 Korea in Group Rockford (Illinois, USA) from July 22 to 27.

Tainan (TPE) will host the other group from August 23 to 27. Five of the six participants have qualified: No. 1 Japan, No. 5 Venezuela, No. 6 Chinese Taipei, No. 7 Cuba, and No. 28 Great Britain. The WBSC will award a Wild Card to the sixth team.

Finals 2027

The top three finishers from each group will advance to the Finals, which Rockford will host from July 19 to 25, 2027.
