Anti-Doping Webinar set for December 11 ahead of 2025 List of Prohibited Substances implementation

The panellists for this webinar are kayak world champion and member of the ITA Education Team Sára Anna Mihalik and Adam Favel, founder and head of athlete support, DSE Sports.

On 11 December 2024, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the International Testing Agency (ITA) will jointly host a new edition of their monthly webinar series. This month, the activity will be focused on the relationship between the athletes and their support personnel in clean sport. The webinar is part of the WBSC Integrity Unit (IU) Education Plan 2021-2024, in line with the campaign “Play-Ball, Play-Fair”.

The panellists for this webinar are kayak world champion and member of the ITA Education Team Sára Anna Mihalik and Adam Favel, founder and head of athlete support, DSE Sports. The activity will be moderated by Mairi Irvine, who is a member of the ITA Education Team.

Athlete Support Personnel (ASP), including managers, play a crucial and influential role in promoting clean sport. Their close and trusted relationships with athletes make them vital sources of information and mentorship. This role extends beyond athletic performance, encompassing mental, emotional, and ethical guidance, and includes an understanding of anti-doping rules.

The webinar will be held via Zoom, and those interested in participate can register for free here.

The webinar will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation available in four additional languages: Arabic (العربية), Spanish (español), French (français) and Russian (русский).

This education activity will come just days ahead of the implementation of the 2025 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (available in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Persian and Turkish) and the 2025 Monitoring Programme.

The 2025 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods was approved by WADA’s Executive Committee (ExCo) during its meeting on 12 September 2024 and enters into force on 1 January 2025.

The list designates which substances and methods are prohibited both in- and out-of-competition and which substances are banned in particular sports.

All major modifications for 2025 are outlined in the 2025 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes.

Athletes who have a legitimate medical reason for using a prohibited substance or method that is on the List can apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) to determine whether they meet the criteria outlined in the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE).
