Changham High School wins 80th Golden Lion National High School Baseball Championship in Korea

Changham defeated Daejeon High School in the final on May 16. Pitcher Won-jun Seo earned the win, pitching 7.2 innings, after winning the May 14 semifinal with a five-inning effort. He was crowned the tournament MVP.

Chungam High School defeated Daejeon High School 10–4 to capture the title at the 80th Golden Lion National High School Baseball Championship and Weekend League Championship Tournament. The victory marked Chungam High School’s fourth Golden Lion title, following previous championships in 1990, 2009, and 2011.

The championship game, co-hosted by the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) and The Dong-A Ilbo, took place at Mokdong Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Saturday, May 16. A total of 57 teams participated in the tournament based on their standings in the first half of the 2026 high school baseball weekend league season.

Daejeon High School struck first, but Chungham responded in the bottom of the first. Ji-ho Shin tied the game with an RBI single and Chungham took a 3-1 lead with a two-RBI single by Geun-woo Jang.

Chungham took a 10-1 lead into the ninth, before allowing three runs that sealed the score.

Chungam pitcher Won-jun Seo earned the tournament’s MVP award. In the final, Seo pitched 7.2 innings, allowing five hits while striking out seven.

Seo also earned the win in the May 14 semifinal, throwing five innings and allowing two hits, while striking out five.
