Changham High School wins 80th Golden Lion National High School Baseball Championship in Korea

Changham defeated Daejeon High School in the final on May 16. Pitcher Won-jun Seo earned the win, pitching 7.2 innings, after winning the May 14 semifinal with a five-inning effort. He was crowned the tournament MVP.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic baseball gold medallist Hayato Sakamoto hits 300th home run

The 38-year-old Tokyo Yomiuri Giants legend was Japan's starting shortstop at the Olympics and at the WBSC Premier12 2019. He reached the 2,000-hit mark in 2020. He became the 48th player to reach the 300 home run club and now has Wladimir Balentien and Nobuhiro Matsuda (301) in his sights.

Samurai Japan and Baseball Around the World exhibition opens at Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

Baseball was first introduced to Japan in 1872, with the country staging a High School National Championship since 1915 and operating a professional league since 1936. The National Team began activities in 1954 and became known as Samurai Japan in the third millennium. The trophies from the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2024 and WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2023 will also be on display.
