KONAMI Digital Entertainment and WBSC donate baseball equipment to Lao Baseball Federation
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), in partnership with KONAMI, has reinforced its commitment to global development by donating baseball equipment to the Lao Baseball Federation - supporting the continued growth of the sport in Southeast Asia. This donation, made in March earlier this year, aims to support the federation’s ongoing development initiatives.
The donation is part of KONAMI’s ongoing Baseball Equipment Reuse Project, an initiative designed to expand access to baseball by collecting and redistributing equipment to emerging baseball communities worldwide. The programme aims to reduce barriers to entry and create new opportunities for young athletes to engage with the sport. The project began in 2022 and has expanded domestically in Japan through donations via “PAWASPI-POINT CLUB,” an official website operated by KONAMI, while internationally it has grown through donations made in cooperation with the WBSC.
Through its official website, KONAMI encourages the public to “donate any unused equipment so it can be delivered to those in need.” Ultimately, essential equipment - including bats, gloves and balls - has been delivered to Laos, where baseball is gaining momentum. Introduced to the country just over a decade ago, the sport has seen steady development thanks to international partnerships and grassroots initiatives.
The first donation coordinated with the WBSC went to WBSC Africa in 2023 and the Reuse Project supported two more donations to Turkey in 2024 and to Lesotho in 2025.
