World Baseball Softball Day trends worldwide

The international Baseball/Softball community celebrated World Baseball Softball Day 2026 in style from women’s baseball superstar Ayami Sato of Japan delivering one of the most touching messages of the day to the Pakistan Softball Federation marking the occasion with a cake.

The global Baseball/Softball community united across every continent on 10 May to celebrate another memorable edition of World Baseball Softball Day (WBSD), once again demonstrating the sport’s power to inspire, connect and bring people together worldwide.

Building on the successful launch of WBSD in 2024 during the 10th anniversary celebrations of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), this year’s edition saw even greater engagement from National Federations, athletes, clubs, institutions and fans around the world.

From Asia to Europe, and from Oceania to the Americas, the baseball and softball family marked the occasion with creativity, passion and a strong sense of community.

Women’s baseball superstar Ayami Sato of Japan shared one of the day’s most heartfelt messages: “I hope that by connecting with the world through baseball and living my truth, I can inspire someone else to keep going.”

While the Singapore Baseball and Softball Association put together an excellent video featuring men's and women's baseball and softball athletes explaining their goals - both personal and for their team - and advice for the future stars of the game.

The Ghana Baseball & Softball Federation reminded the global community that baseball and softball represent far more than competition, stating: “Today, we celebrate more than a sport. We celebrate unity, passion, and the spirit that connects us all.”

In Venezuela, representatives of the Venezuelan Baseball Federation offered inspiring advice to young athletes aspiring to reach the highest level, encouraging the next generation to believe in perseverance, discipline and passion.

The Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation celebrated “all the people who make our sports possible,” while showcasing outstanding Spanish players of 2025. Meanwhile, the German Baseball and Softball Federation invited fans and players to share what they love most about the game, highlighting the values of teamwork, passion and a community that transcends borders and generations.

Japan also joined the celebrations through the vibrant Rainbow Softball community, inviting players around the world to share their dreams, memories and Olympic aspirations.

Across the globe, communities embraced the spirit of WBSD in their own unique ways. The Pakistan Softball Federation marked the occasion with a celebratory cake, while the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines showcased the strength and joy of women of all ages through events spanning from Luzon to Mindanao.

Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Switzerland, Finland, Peru, Jordan and many other countries contributed to the worldwide relay of celebrations.

Great Britain’s Senior Women’s National Softball Team sent greetings to the international community, while the Fédération Française de Baseball et Softball encouraged fans to share their personal stories and goals for 2026.

The Bhutan Baseball & Softball Association once again inspired the global audience with a powerful message: “Every young Bhutanese player has a chance to represent their nation.”

Baseball Canada shared memorable moments from across the country, while the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame honoured WBSC Technical Director Jim Baba by showcasing a Tokyo Olympic baseball signed by WBSC personnel.

The celebrations extended beyond federations and athletes. The organising committee of the 2029 World University Games highlighted that baseball and softball will be included in the Games in North Carolina, underlining the international connections and lasting legacy the event will create in the United States.

Historic and cultural initiatives also took part. The Women’s Baseball Heritage Project marked the day by asking fans: “Where will the Women’s Baseball Heritage Trail take you this year?”

At club level, organisations such as Tournai Celtics Baseball Softball Club proudly joined the festivities, demonstrating how deeply the spirit of the game resonates within local communities.

Across social media, the hashtags #WBSD and #BaseballSoftballDay once again connected thousands of players, fans, coaches and federations around a shared message: baseball and softball continue to unite people worldwide.

Another remarkable World Baseball Softball Day highlighted the true strength of the global baseball and softball movement — a community united by the game, driven by passion and committed to building the future of the sport together.
