Baseball5 World Ranking update: Thailand and Vietnam the big movers after Asia Cup
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has released the latest update of the Baseball5 World Ranking following the Asia Baseball5 Asia Cup - a qualification tournament for the the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026 in San Juan, Puerto Rico - with Thailand and Vietnam emerging as the standout movers.
There are no changes at the top of the rankings, as Cuba maintains its position as the world’s No. 1 programme with 5,827 points. Japan, who finished second at the Asia Cup, remains in second place after adding 533 points, bringing their total to 4,385, while France continues to round out the podium in third with 4,375 points.
Asia Cup 2026 champions Chinese Taipei have closed the gap to France in fourth place to 74 points, having previously trailed by 226 points.
Among the top 20, Thailand recorded the most significant rise, climbing three places to No. 15 with 1,205 points.
Vietnam achieved the biggest jump overall, soaring 27 positions to No. 39 in the world, after a stunning sixth-place finish at the Asia Cup.
In total, 67 Baseball5 programmes across the five Olympic continents are featured in the updated rankings.
The latest update reflects results from 20 international events over the past four-year cycle. Key competitions included in the calculations are the 2025 Youth Baseball5 World Cup, Youth Baseball5 African Championship, Baseball5 African Championship, Baseball5 European Championship, XXXIII SEA Games, and the Youth Baseball5 Asia Cup. The Baseball5 Asia Cup also marks the first 2026 event included in the ranking system.
