Philippines' softball star Francesca Altomonte promotes clean sport on Play True Day

The next International Testing Agency (ITA) Monthly Webinar taking place later this month is also part of the WBSC Integrity Unit's "Play-Ball, Play-Fair" Anti-Doping campaign.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) took part in Play True Day 2026, joining the global effort to promote clean sport and reinforce the values behind fair competition.

Led by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the initiative brought together the international sporting community on 17 April under the theme “Play True. It Starts with You,” highlighting the role individuals play in protecting the integrity of sport.

As part of the campaign, the WBSC joined the #PlayTrueChallenge, a social media activation built around a simple concept – 30 seconds of effort reflecting the discipline required to compete clean. One of the featured athletes was the Philippines' softball star Francesca Altomonte - who played in the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup in 2023 and 2018 - who took on the challenge in a short video before delivering a clear message of accountability.

“30 seconds for clean sport. Play True. It starts with me,” Altomonte said at the end of her clip, echoing the campaign’s focus on individual responsibility.

The WBSC’s participation formed part of its wider work in anti-doping education and awareness across Baseball, Softball and Baseball5.

The WBSC Integrity Unit continues its "Play-Ball, Play-Fair" Anti-Doping campaign, which includes support for members to enhance your Anti-Doping strategies.

Meanwhile, the next International Testing Agency (ITA) Monthly Webinar will take place later this month.
