POME wins WBSC eBaseball™️ Series 2025 World Finals; Tomokun, compass reach podium

Global Qualifier champ goes undefeated en route to WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2025 World Finals title.

In a performance that will go down in WBSC eBaseball™ Series history, Global Qualifier champion POME overcame every obstacle to win the WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2025 World Finals Presented by Visit Raleigh and become the second WBSC eBaseball™ world champion after SHORA, who claimed the title in 2023 and 2024.

In the Championship Game against Japan champion Tomokun during Sunday's Knockout Stage, POME used two big innings to complete a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three series.

In Game One, POME scored six runs in the bottom of the first for a 6-4 win, with home runs from Bowman Vanguard, Ohtani, Kentaro Kusano and Tadashi Ochiai. In Game Two, he erupted for 12 runs in the top of the third to beat Tomokun by the run-ahead-rule and clinch the championship, after entering the inning down 2-0.

“I’ve played the game since the game started, and I was struggling a bit and kept losing, but I won this title, so I’m very, very happy with it,” POME said through an interpreter after the game.

POME went undefeated in the tournament, sweeping the Super Round with a 3-0 record in Group B and going 4-0 in the Knockout Stage. He defeated benzen 2-1 in the quarterfinals and Hig Yurune in the semifinals 9-3 to reach the championship game.

Tomokun went 2-1 in the Super Round, then defeated SHE SHE 3-1 in the quarterfinals and Compass 12-2 in the semifinals to make it to the final.

“I’m glad to be in the Finals. My batting was very, very good, but my pitching wasn’t, so I need to improve something, but I’m glad to be here,” Tomokun said through an interpreter after the Finals. “I want to say thank you to my family, who have always supported me, and I promise to them that I will be World Champion next year.”

Compass, the United States champion, finished third, becoming the first player from USA to place in a WBSC eBaseball™ Series World Finals event. He defeated Women’s Qualifier champion Hig Yurune 4-3 on an extra-inning walk-off single by Ryo Tomozawa in the bottom of the fourth inning.

“There’s never been a bronze medal that’s come to the U.S. in POWER PROS, not even anywhere in the west, anywhere outside of Asia,” Compass said after the game. “I am so proud of that.”

Compass went 2-1 in Group A play, then defeated MSQA 2-1 in the quarterfinals before losing to Tomokun in the semifinals. Hig Yurune reached the Third Place Game by going 2-1 in Group A and defeating Jon’sCopyright 3-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to POME in the semifinals.
