POME, Tomokun top groups in World Finals Super Round as Knockout Stage brackets revealed

WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2025 World Finals presented by Visit Raleigh wraps up on Sunday.

After 12 games of intense competition on Saturday in the WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2025 World Finals presented by Visit Raleigh, the final brackets for the Knockout Stage have been determined for Sunday’s final day of competition.

Japan champion Tomokun topped Group A in the Super Round via a tiebreaker, one of three players finishing the group with a 2-1 record, while Global Qualifier champion POME of Japan led Group B as the lone undefeated player of the Super Round, finishing with a clean 3-0 record.

The two Japanese will take the top seeds in Sunday’s Knockout Stage in the World Finals, facing Chinese Taipei champion SHE SHE and Mexico champion benzen, respectively, in the quarterfinals.

Tomokun started the day with a 9-0 mercy-rule win in two innings against benzen, followed by a 2-1 loss to Women’s Qualifier champion Hig Yurune in a nail-biting game, before closing his day with a 4-1 win over USA champion Compass.

POME started the day with one of the most exciting games of the tournament, holding off a furious third-inning rally from SHE SHE to win 8-6. He then settled down and shut out Italy champ MSQA 4-0 and Wild Card player Jon’sCopyright of the United States 6-0 to complete a clean sweep of the group.

Following Tomokun in Group A was Hig Yurune, who finished second in the three-way tie with a 2-1 record, while Compass placed third in the tiebreaker with an identical 2-1 record.

In Group B, MSQA finished second following a three-way tiebreaker with a 1-2 record. Jon’sCopyright placed third – second in the tiebreaker – also at 1-2, while SHE SHE finished fourth with the same record.

With that, the quarterfinal matchups for the Knockout Round will feature Tomokun taking on SHE SHE, MSQA taking on Compass, Hig Yurune facing Jon’sCopyright, and POME going up against benzen.

The winners will advance to the semifinals, with the semifinal winners moving on to the best-of-three Championship. The losing semifinaliists will play in the Third Place Game.

Coverage of the Knockout Round starts Sunday at 14:00 local time in Raleigh, North Carolina, live from the NC State Gaming and Esports Lab on the campus of North Carolina State University. Live streams will be available on the WBSC YouTube channel, the WBSC eSport Twitch channel, the USA Baseball YouTube channel, and ELTA4 for Mandarin-language audiences.
