Nine teams chase three World Cup berths at Baseball5 Asia Cup in Hong Kong, China

WBSC Asia Baseball5, a joint project between Softball Asia and the Baseball Federation of Asia, has announced that the 3rd Baseball5 Asia Cup 2026 will be held at D·Park Shopping Mall in Hong Kong, China, from 27 to 31 March. The event will serve as a qualifier for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the top three teams in the final standings earning a berth at the global event.

Nine teams have confirmed their participation: Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China; Japan; Korea; Saudi Arabia; Singapore; Thailand; Chinese Taipei; and Vietnam. Three of them — Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam — will be making their debut at the Asia Cup.

The Baseball Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC) will host the 3rd Baseball5 Asia Cup 2026, with funding support from the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (Arts and Sport Development Fund) and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

The BAHKC previously hosted the 2nd WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in Hong Kong, China, at the iconic Central Harbourfront Event Space. The 2026 Baseball5 Asia Cup builds on that legacy and continues efforts to enhance the development of Baseball5 in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong, China.

“Building on the success of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024, which introduced the sport to a wider local audience, Baseball5 has seen rapid growth in Hong Kong," said BAHKC President Dave Ho. "Schools and clubs are now actively organising training and competitions. BAHKC is confident that hosting another premier international event will further energise the local sports scene.”

Alongside the competition, public practice stations will be set up next to the court, offering everyone a chance to try Baseball5. Fans are invited to join the celebration of this premier sporting event in Hong Kong.

This will be the third edition of the tournament. The inaugural edition was held in 2022 in Malaysia, with Chinese Taipei claiming the title over Japan. The second edition took place in 2024, with Japan defeating Chinese Taipei in the final. Korea earned bronze on both occasions.
